Alaska Compturized Formative Assessments

About ACFA

The Alaska Department of Education & Early Development, working with Data Recognition Corporation (DRC) and Computerized Assessments and Learning (CAL) has developed the Alaska Computerized Formative Assessment (ACFA) Program. ACFA is delivered through a contract with DRC. As part of this contract, software is being delivered by CAL.

ACFA are computer-based formative assessments using the CAL online computer test delivery and reporting system. Items are linked to specific Alaska content standards and grade level expectations (GLEs). The system is intended to provide feedback that can be used to adapt teaching and learning to meet student needs.

The CAL software presents test items to students and captures their responses. Training tools, tutorials, and practice experiences support implementation of the program. Through the CAL delivery system, items measuring Alaska reading, mathematics and writing GLEs are available for use with students in grades 3 through 10. GLEs for science are available at grades 4, 8 and 10.
