- Click on "Download CAL Now!" located on the right side
of your screen to download the installer.
- Run the installer and follow the instructions.
By default, the CAL software is installed in the
C:\Program Files\Alaska Assessments folder.
- The installation creates a(n) ACFA shortcut icon
on your desktop.
Double-clicking this icon will start the CAL software.
- If you
DO NOT
plan to use additional features of the CAL software,
like the Local Caching Software,
your installation is complete.
Configure the CAL Software Using Preferences
- A utility program called "Preferences" is included as part of
the CAL software installation.
- It allows you to configure the following additional features
of the CAL software:
- Proxy
- Secure Connection
- Auto Update
- Local Caching Software
- The "Preferences" program can be accessed from:
Start Menu/Programs/Alaska Assessments/Preferences
Configure the CAL Software to Use the LCS
This section helps you to configure the CAL software to use
the LCS set up in your network.
- Open the CAL Preferences program.
- Select the "Local Caching Software" tab.
- Check "Enable Local Caching Software Configuration" and
add the IP and port where the LCS is listening.
By default, the LCS listens on port 8100.
- Click "Apply".
- Select the "Troubleshoot" tab and click on "Run Tests"
to verify that the computer is able to connect to the LCS.
- If the computer is not able to connect to the LCS,
make sure that the LCS is running by using the
LCS Monitoring Tool.
Also make sure that your computers are able to find the LCS
in your network using the IP and port entered in step 3.
- Click OK.
Once the CAL software is properly configured to use the LCS,
take any of the practice tests available and use the statistics in the
LCS Monitoring Tool
to verify that practice tests are downloaded from the LCS.
Troubleshoot the CAL Software
- This section helps you troubleshoot whether the CAL software
is properly configured to administer tests.
- To check whether the CAL software is able to connect to the
CAL Data Center, open the CAL Preferences program and run
the tests on the Troubleshoot tab.
The results of the test will show whether the CAL software
is connecting to the CAL Data Center.
- If the results show that the CAL software is not connecting
to the CAL Data Center,
click on the Log File tab in the
CAL Preferences program,
click on the "Copy Log File Contents" button,
paste the contents into a text file,
and email it to
AKProject@datarecognitioncorp.com.
