Uninstall LCS 4.2
- If the LCS is currently running,
stop it by executing the following script
located in the LCS installation folder:
- Manually delete the LCS installation folder.
Installation
- Click on the appropriate LCS installer based on the processor used in your Mac system.

- "Mac Power PC" if your Mac system is built using the Power PC platform.
- "Mac Intel x86" if your Mac system is built using the Intel x86 platform.
- Extract the contents of the tar.gz installer file and you should find the folder "ISAT_LCS_4_6".
- You can copy this folder to any location on your system. This location will be your LCS installation folder. Make sure the LCS has
permissions to write files in the installation folder and that there is a minimum of 512 MB of disk space available.
- Change the permissions of the LCS installation folder by running the chmod command, "chmod -R 775 *".
Configuration
- The LCS Preferences program provides an easy-to-use interface to configure various options available with the LCS.
- Start the LCS Preferences program by running the "LCS_Preferences.sh" script, available as part of the LCS installation folder in the system console. Configure the LCS settings following the instructions on the Preferences screens.
Running the LCS
- You can start and stop the LCS using the "lcs.sh" script available as part of the LCS installation folder.
- Use the following command to start the LCS,
"<LCS-Installation-folder>/lcs.sh start"
- Use the following command to stop the LCS,
"<LCS-Installation-folder>/lcs.sh stop"
LCS Monitoring Tool
- The LCS provides a web-based monitoring tool that helps you to track the daily activity in the LCS. You can use the monitoring tool to track:
- Number of practice tests taken
- Number of active users between 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM
- Number of test parts finished in the LCS and saved in the CAL Data Center
- Number of test parts finished in the LCS and pending to be saved in the CAL Data Center

Troubleshoot the CAL Software and the LCS
- This section helps you troubleshoot whether the CAL software and the LCS are properly configured to administer tests.
- To check whether the LCS is able to connect to the CAL Data Center, run the LCS_Preferences.sh script, available as part of the LCS installation folder in the system console and then run the tests on the Troubleshoot tab. The results of the tests will show whether the LCS is connecting to the CAL Data Center.
- If the results show that the LCS is not connecting to the CAL Data Center, click on the Log File tab in the LCS Preferences program, click the "Copy Log File Contents" button, paste the contents into a text file, and email it to ISAT@datarecognitioncorp.com. We will review the file and recommend a solution.
- To check whether the CAL software is able to connect to the LCS, open the CAL Preferences program and run the tests on the Troubleshoot tab. If the CAL software is configured properly to use the LCS, the results will show that the CAL software is able to connect to the LCS.
- If the results show that the CAL software is not connecting to the LCS, click on the Log File tab in the CAL Preferences program, click the "Copy Log File Contents" button, paste the contents into a text file, and email it to ISAT@datarecognitioncorp.com. We will review the file and recommend a solution.
- To check whether the CAL software is able to administer a practice test using the LCS, open the LCS Monitoring Tool and view the number of practice tests taken per subject. Once you take a practice test, the information displayed will update. The LCS Monitoring Tool updates every 2 minutes, so wait 2 minutes for the practice test counts to be updated.
